She dropped the bomb about herself while talking with Marie Claire magazine, and spoke out about her gender identity and sexuality. “I feel like a 15-year-old boy trapped in the body of a 22-year-old girl,” said the pop star.
“I’m just even,” she added. “It has nothing to do with any parts of me or how I dress or how I look. It’s literally just how I feel.”
Cyrus went on to discuss how she feels about labels.
“I’m not hiding my sexuality. For me, I don’t want to label myself as anything,” she told the magazine. “We love putting people in categories, but what I like sexually isn’t going to label me as a person.” The “Wrecking Ball” singer went on to say she wants to be judged on who she really is, and not just on her dating life.
“It has a lot to do with being a feminist, but I’m finally okay with being alone. I think that’s something we have to talk about more: that you can be alone.”
“There are times in my life where I’ve had boyfriends or girlfriends,” she continued. “And there are times where I just love being with myself and don’t want to give part of myself away to someone else.”
“I think that’s a new freedom for women, especially. I don’t know that my mother would have been able to be 22 and secure in being alone. But my future doesn’t rely on having a partner.”
